A taste of spring

The maple taffy wasn't that good. But the weather was glorious. And talking with her sitting in the snow while the kids climbed on the boulder was the best part.

What is a taffy?

It's mapple taffy : boiled down maple syrup (or maple sap at this time of year) into a thick taffy-like substance that we pour over snow and roll onto a stick once it hardens. It's a sugar shack tradition from Quebec! This particular one had been cooked too long so it tasted more like molasses... and it was made with last year syrup! A seasoned Quebecker cannot be fooled!

OK thanks, never heard of it before! Probably because we don't have maple trees...:-)
