My friend Elke who lives in Australia came up with a great idea: to have our two homeschooling families become penpals. I had a penpal from Corea when I was young and loved the experience, so I was quite excited for my girls to become penpals with Chilli. We just received their first package with a letter, some drawings, a story and beautiful wooden egg prop and a felt wombat. The girls are totally into learning about the animals of Australia. Aïsha already wrote a story about a koala and a kangoroo.

Quels beaux souvenirs:)
Bonne correspondance avec Chilli en Australie!
Michelle:)
It's a super idea!
Oh BEAUTIFUL! :) Glad they liked the package... I have to say, if that was a real wombat, it definitely wouldn't be crawling so elegantly up a thin stalk of flowers! :)
I remember when G and I were honeymooning down on Wilson's Promontory, there was this almighty noise late in the afternoon and I said 'what is that' looked over and there was this huge furry thing waddling through our campsite. G said "WOW! That's a wombat!" Nooo I said... REALLY! I had seen them in the zoo/at animal parks etc - but up close in the wild they look so HUGE! We also saw them when we camped at Kosciusko NP. The burrows they make are so big. When we were driving late one night on a dark country road, we came up the side of a hill and just over the crest of the other lane was two big wombats asleep in the middle of the road. They are MASSIVE! When we were driving that night, we were constantly seeing their big bums on the side of the road waddling away from the road as they heard us coming! HUGE animals...
Really! They seems so adorable! How big are they in real life?
