The juice stand

It all started with a walk in the park where the kids decided to pick apples to sell them to make money. Then back home, they decided to make a juice stand.

Together, they moved a picnic table.

Then, they made a sign for their stand. Those are the ingredients that the customer could pick from (cinnamon stick, apples and carrots).

Then they got to work. And they worked hard! Aïsha cut apples and carrots for at least an hour straight without stopping.

The first customers were very patient because we were not really expecting such a huge success! Twenty-five cents for a glass of fresh juice was for sure the cheapest in town!

Ben and I were the juicing team inside!

Gabrielle proudly delivered the first glass of juice!

And off they went to cut more apples!

Such another wonderful example of how much hard work and energy children (and adults!) can put into a task when it comes from their own motivation! It was just beautiful to see them all work together, come up with great ideas and taste the success of their own project!

Sometimes, I hesitate when they come up with big projects (and they do have grand ideas everyday!) and sometimes, I stop them. Mathilde could use up a whole jar of raw almond butter to make the recipe of almond cookies she has in her head... you know with flour, salt, spices, garlic, tamari and mint... So I have to be the party pooper sometimes, because her cooking experiments can get pretty expansive and out of proportions, especially since she refuses to follow a recipe because it is « all in her head »... But when the project seems doable (even if it stretches me a little), I try to help them make it possible and more often than not, I am amazed at their ideas, generosity and amazing creativity... If only I can find that space to let go and trust...

I love this post Catherine. It feel so good when we trust going with something and it so turns out to be the right thing to do. How nice also, when something dreamed up by a group of children is fun and successful!

Cute - a strong and personal motivation is such a good incentive to work hard at something!
