The best medicine
Today was all about the food. Apple pie chia seed parfait for breakfast. The sweetest clementine juice for snack. Sautéed kale and perfectly roasted potatoes with a side of delicious veganaise for lunch. Apple-lime-kale green juice appetizer. Crudessence quinoa wraps for dinner and Lemon coconut hemp seed bites for dessert. The best medicine!

Creative messes
A day of creating. Leftovers for dinner. Charades. Polly Pockets doing all sorts of Olympic competitions. Bobby pins and hair clips all over the house. Face painting. Good messes. The kind that I don't feel compelled to clean up right away.

Raindrops
Low overcast sky.
Raindrops at the tips of the icicles hanging from the roof.
Some painful news from a far away friend.
An afternoon walk that smelled of spring.
Orange pecan chocolate cookies.
The homemade pizza they prepared together was an added bonus.

Teamwork
I cleaned. He vacuumed. He shopped. I cooked. He shoveled. I purged. I brought boxes of books to friends. He drove to goodwill. We make a good team. We both do our fair share. Except for the worrying. I definitely do most of the worrying.

With them
Except for grandparents, it is quite unusual to have people in your life that love your children in that very special way. We are lucky to have friends who have taken a very unique place in our girls' lives and hearts and it is a real joy to see their relationship blossom through the years.
Wherever we are, they come and visit us and take real pleasure in spending time with our girls. I will always remember when we asked them to be our girls' godparents while we were camping in Alaska when the girls were still babies...
Over the years, I have asked them for their opinion in many instances and have appreciated their outlook on things. Their tangible love for our girls fills me with so much gratitude. We are all so blessed to have them in our life.

An ordinary day
Broken washing machine. Shortbreads with beet-colored icing. Friends in the house. A new lense. Some sewing. The vacuming will have to wait until tomorrow.

The perfect snowshoe day
We're not exactly sure what's next for us. That's a little exciting, and a bit scary.
But one thing's for sure: wherever we're going, we're going together. And as long as we can hike, spend time in nature and have an occasional snow fight, we will be fine. Actually, we will be more than fine. We will do great.

Blur
Today, everything was blurry because of sickness and emotional turmoil.
I tried to see the beauty in the blur.
A tall order.
P.S. Abstract photos of lego structures and K'nex constructions at a slow shutter speed (2s) with intentional camera movement.
Floating
The warm bathtub water scalded our freezing cold toes.
Floating.
Then, pj's and all five of us snuggled on the couch.

On cupcakes, Olympics and patience
She said the soup smelled like Christmas. Then we made some cupcakes with toasted coconut icing. They kept poking each other while we watched the Olympics. We ran out of patience at the same time.

Her first birthday
Naomie (the girls only cousin - JF sister's daughter) turned 1 and we were excited to celebrate with her. The girls had spent the week preparing gifts and cards for her and counting the days.
When it was time for the cake, she was already so very tired from all the hustle and bustle, all the hugs and smiles. As soon as we finished singing, she bursted into tears and fell asleep exausted in her grand-dads arms. Loved. Filled to the brim.
